I have not seen this before. AFAIK no one ever reported this when using Minishift / CDK from the console. There is not flag or similar to change this behaviour from the Minishift side. Not sure what the Java API is you are using for this. Seems somewhere something gets wrangled. Maybe some default Windows encoding gets set and on Windows one needs to set an explicit encoding, e.g UTF-8.
