I'm not sure about the first step:

I would assume that the call the tools do uses exactly the same binary as you have set up in the server adapter. So it shouldn't matter if it's renamed or not (as long as your server adapter settings is correct; if it's not, cdk won't even start).

I tried it and could not reproduce the problem.
