The eager removal of smart import bundles from e4 (and then from JBoss Tools) has caused that. See https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=525655
It's an upstream issue, which I think is not critical for JBoss Tools and for the use case (since most Eclipse bundle/feature projects have either a .project or a pom.xml so importer would work with those anyway).
