I have added a fix upstream to disable all progressbars using an environment variable here https://github.com/minishift/minishift/pull/1340.

Please find the similar compiled minishift binary in below link:

I have tried by replacing above binary with devstudio and seems working. 
Check the screenshot. !no_progressbar.png|thumbnail! 

Use

MINISHIFT_NO_PROGRESSBAR=y minishift start <other options>
{code}

to supress progress bars or spinning wheel.
