If the complaint here is that the validation doesn't go away until you close the preference page, that's a bit of a stretch in terms of a bug. Validation will only be kicked off once the preference page is closed, not once the setting is changed.

Is this the bug?

> Definitely not, this was just a demonstration that I have set oc in preferences. And after closing the preferences dialog, the validation error was still there. 

In case that you cannot reproduce this on windows machine (which was the only case I managed to get the bug), I will give it one more shot to be sure and if I will fail to get the bug, we can close this as cannot reproduce, sounds right?
