This issue is still happening with:
Red Hat JBoss Developer Studio
Version: 11.1.0.GA
Build id: GA-v20171026-1022-B1486
OS: Windows 8.1, v.6.3, x86_64 / win32

And the same workaround still helps: comment out @ElementCollection, clean project, remove comment.
