[~odockal] on the devstudio side, here are the steps i followed to verify that AERI is not installed anymore : 
* installed 4.15.0.Final
* installed all reddeer 2.9.0 features
* using local osgi console, verified that eari is no more installed/active ( ran 'ss aeri' does not return any bundles )
* using local osgi console, verified that org.eclipse.reddeer.eclipse.test is active and had no error resolving bundles
* created and ran the reddeer demo example without error
