As per Heiko Rupp, we should use the REST API of RHQ. 

In a brief summary of the discussion on IRC, this would be best addressed by creating a unique set of metadata (e.g. annotations on monitored methods), which would be used for:

a) generating the RHQ descriptor using a compile-time mechanism such as an annotation processor;
b) using a CDI interceptor/extension mechanism for enhancing the application code with RHQ RESTful invocations;
