  The Best Performance Ever 
  ========================= 

  I have published the performance test report which compares the   
  performance of 5 open source NIO frameworks including Netty.  According to   
  the test result, Netty 3.0.0.CR5 seems to have achieved a breakthrough in   
  NIO framework performance.  Read here:

  SimpleChannelHandler Just Got More Convenient 
  ============================================= 

  SimpleChannelHandler now implements ChannelDownstreamHandler along with   
  ChannelUpstreamHandler.  It simplifies the implementation of a downstream   
  event handler significantly.  The user guide has been updated and   
  simplified thanks to this change. 


  Bug Fixes 
  ========= 

  Various bugs were found and fixed during the performance test.  Most of   
  them were race conditions under heavy load. 

  On the other hand, a bug in object serialization codec was fixed thanks to   
  the detailed bug report by Frederic.  Thanks, Frederic! 


  Upcoming Releases 
  ================= 

  Unless a major issue is reported within the next iteration, Netty   
  3.0.0.CR5 will become a GA release.
