Hi,
I'm a recent user of Netty version 3 (from this summer)
(and an user for some years of Mina),
and I suppose that if your question doesn't get any answer
on the production ready status is because this framework
is quite new, even if I feel this library is ready for it.
I think it is just the time one need to make a production
ready software that is too short to answer correctly to your question.
However, I am currently doing benchmark tests on one of my first
applications using Netty. This benchmark will take some time
since the goals are both performance but most of all stability
and robustness.
Until then, I've not seen any problem so far.
I've only reach one problem, fix now in the last version, where under
heavy load (100% CPU) there were some hangs up of the server.
Now there is no more such errors.
Also I've already made a test of 2 hours long with non stopped
virtual users getting connected without any problem
either in memory or functionnality.
I'm still in the process since I've got problem but on the business
part, not Netty one. So if you want, I can come back later on
when I finished such tests with more than 1 week long server running ?
Netty is really a great framework, and its young age is almost
nothing since its creator knows so much about such framework
so that Netty was borned a few months ago almost adult.
And I thing the recent announce of the first GA version is
a real sign of its robustness.
HTH,
Sincerely,
Frederic
