Bootstrap#releaseExternalResources stuck

Hi,

   It seems like sometimes, calling the client bootstrap
releaseExteranlMethods gets stuck. I have noticed that this happens if not
all channels are closed, so I try to take care for that. In any case, does
this method block indefinitely by design?
