Newbi having issue with running examples?

Hi,
  I tried running the examples but couldn't get the simplest one
working(echo/discard?). The others are fine and i see expected output but
for echo?, i don't see any output on client side. What could be wrong?. I
tried both on windows/linux and have the latest code.

Also are there any tools that i can use to snoop packets or debug this?
