It's not ignored, but works in very specific fashion. It uses https://svn.jboss.org/repos/richfaces/trunk/cdk/generator/src/main/resources/META-INF/templates/templatecompiler/tags.bin file, which contains reduced set of attributes. (XHTML strict?)

For example, it doesn't render neither bgcolor nor align attribute for table.
