I'm really sorry, but current behavior is very strange.
1. Expand inplaceSelect (second example in the LiveDemo application)
2. Only select (don't click mouse button or press Enter key) and press tab key
RESULT: component has edit state, default label displayes, see attached screen
So, i think, 
1. item should be selected after tab key pressing in the component without controls
AND
2. Focus should be moved to the OK button (OK icon) in the component with controls
it will be better than current behavior
Could you discuss that issue with Nick and Ilya?
