The crash happens when "application/xhtml+xml" mime type is used and the ajax4jsf script mentioned is used. You can add a
<f:view contentType="text/html"/>	 
to the pages to work around this crash. It appears to be problem of mac safari rendering engine from 5523.10.3 at least.
