Hi arne,

We had the same problems. First we used the Infragistics Grid which provides nice featutes and good performance, but the memory usage is high. This component are not free and doesn't work that good together with the Richfaces filter.

Currently we start to build our own datatable. If you have time for it and do not use advanced features it's a good option untill the Richfaces datatables are updated.
