Ronald van Kuijk commented on RF-5086:
--------------------------------------

I think this discussion belongs in the forum, but now it is here, let me comment as well.

I've seen so many cases where people complain about an opensource project not delivering what they want, at least not on the details. The performance of a component to me is a detail (not unimportant, but nevertheless). What often happens then is that they start developing their own component instead of taking the OPEN source and helping to fix the problem.

There is one minor issue with performance in this component and that is related to the automatic sorting and filtering. If that is activated, the component wants ALL records. The subject alone of this jira is plain wrong. It is a patch and not a real fix. The real issue should be to have an issue about performance.

Regarding that, the latest version of the extended datatable supports the modifiable interface. If you use that, implement your own sorting and filtering, you can have a fairly good performance.

And if you do not use advanced features like grouping, and column ordering, why not use the default datatable? I don't get it...
