The behavior is noticeable on this configurations, the type of the container is not important, behave same on all of them:

- All consumers are invoked from one machine
JBoss 7 with: JAVA_OPTS: -server -Xms64m -Xmx512m -XX:MaxPermSize=256m
host and client on my local machine with 3 GB RAM, CPU: 4 cores, Intel Core i5 M540 2.53Ghz
host on my local machine, client on remote machine with 3.8 GB RAM, CPU 4 cores, 2.7 GHz each

JBoss 7 with: JAVA_OPTS: -server -Xms512m -Xmx1024m -XX:MaxPermSize=256m
same hosts and clients configurations as mentioned above
