I don't know to say to you if it is unacceptible or not, I prefer yours experts decide it:-).  I thinks it is better for memory,for me, it is 20% of my frequently used pages to pass in @ViewScope i don't know the cost effects, so i am not amazon in traffic it certainly has no side effect for my case.

So if I am not blind, it will be written in big in http://docs.jboss.org/richfaces/latest_4_1_X/Component_Reference/en-US/html/chap-Component_Reference-Rich_inputs.html#sect-Component_Reference-Rich_inputs-pickList

For the picklist and all components wich not supports @RequestScope.
