I found that the selection capability exists, but only doesn't work properly, try:

1. open http://localhost:8080/metamer/faces/components/richPanelMenu/simple.xhtml
2. open Group 1
3. select Item 1.3
(item is not selected)
4. switch @bubbleSelection=false
(item is selected now!)
