2. open developer console/Firebug
3. RichFaces.$('form:inplaceSelect').showPopup()
4. RichFaces.$('form:inplaceSelect').hidePopup()

result:
TypeError: RichFaces.$("form:inplaceSelect").hidePopup is not a function
