I have been facing this issue with the jquery AJAX page updates:
http://forum.jquery.com/topic/no-modification-allowed-err-in-safari-using-xhtml-with-a-get-request
(it seems PrimeFaces deals with the same problem) It's not noticeable to the end user but errors show up in the iPad javascript debugger console. It may end up causing us problems simply by using jquery on mobile devices
