I am unable to reproduce this.

My steps:
# open http://localhost:8080/metamer/faces/components/richAccordion/simple.xhtml in IE 8 (the behaviour is the same for strict/compatibility mode)
# click on _item 2_
# set _cycledSwitching_ to _true_
# de-focused the input element (clicked elsewhere on the page), and see the page visibly refresh
# I'm able to continue setting attributes in a similar fashion.

Please investigate your environment, and identify what I need to do to reproduce.  I will not be able to isolate/resolve the problem if I can't reproduce it locally.
