Verified in the metamer page: http://localhost:8080/metamer/faces/components/richNotify/simple.xhtml

IE8 - in strict mode, I am unable to close the notify window.  In compatibility mode I am able to close it.
IE8 does not produce any additional notify mesages when the buttons are clicked (both strict and compatibility mode).
IE9 - opening/closing works in strict mode.  When IE9 is placed in compatibility mode, it behaves the sames as IE8 strict mode.
