To correct the issue we have created a file named: calendar_fr.properties that we put at the source level under the hierarchy src/org/richfaces/renderkit and we added following properties:

#Localized properties for the Richfaces Calendar
RICH_CALENDAR_APPLY_LABEL=Appliquer
RICH_CALENDAR_CANCEL_LABEL=Annuler
RICH_CALENDAR_CLEAN_LABEL=Réinitialiser
RICH_CALENDAR_CLOSE_LABEL=Fermer
RICH_CALENDAR_TODAY_LABEL=Aujourd\'hui
