I've cherry-picked and fixed [~lukindo]'s commit.  I tested that the public API works with the "resetZoom" method I wrote for RF-13699.  I'm resolving this issue.  Any aspects of the public API that do not work should be reported via a new issue.

(Thanks guys, I appreciate your diligence with this chart stuff.  I'm picking up where it was left off with no knowledge of the state it was left in).
