Jay,
> I would guess this would not be until 3.0 though. We are already working on JSF 2.2
If I may just clear up any confusion:
A robust facility for 'dynamic creation of components' has *already* been specified in JSF 2.0. It is an advanced use case, and the Mojarra team are having a hard time getting their implementation working (http://java.net/jira/browse/JAVASERVERFACES-1826). This seems to have led them to believe it needs to be better documented in the spec (http://java.net/jira/browse/JAVASERVERFACES_SPEC_PUBLIC-1007), which is fair enough.
But that does not change the fact that it *is* in the 2.0 spec, and works fine in MyFaces (https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/MYFACES-2935). I don't wanting people thinking this needs to be a new feature in JSF 2.2 or 3.0 or anything.
> Your RichFaces 4 dynamic component creation tests need to be looked at more
> I think. I'd like to see what you've done there
I want to stress it's not some tricky hack I've done. I've just followed the JSF 2.0 spec, and it works great under MyFaces. Just not under Mojarra yet.
I commend what Lukas is proposing because this whole area *does* need more documentation. But please document it in line with the existing spec. This link may help:
