Brian Leathem commented on RFPL-1854:
-------------------------------------

This is a great write-up Lukas, I'd really like to see some time baked in for fixing any bugs that come up from the features added during the development cycle.

I guess my only major concern with this proposal would be that if the automated tests are done in series with the manual tests (rather than in parallel), we'll end up increasing the time it takes to release.

> Current release process involves:
> # diverging release branch
> # bumping the version / tagging
> # releasing to staging area
> # release testing
> # fixes + re-spins
> It would be great to catch as much issues as possible before releasing to staging area:
> # diverging release branch
> # building project to separated snapshot repository (Nexus QA?)
> # pre-release testing (includes manual tests)
> # fixes
> # bumping the version / tagging
> # releasing to staging area
> # automated release verification
> In this scenario both, integrity of build and no need for respins will be ensured.
