Another solution is to use again ant task from maven and to download the distribution as before. However this solution seems to be quite unreliable, as the builds sometimes failed because of corrupted download.

However I think that I can do more with ensuring that it is more reliable. Question is whether it is not worth (cheaper) more to work on the publishing to maven central.
