This seems to have been addressed in the commit {{[286ec2|https://github.com/richfaces/richfaces/commit/286ec2a142ab53c2ddbd508188c9bf4228b85d28]}}.  Let's revert that commit and reject this issue.

Without transitive dependency resolution, the approach to managing dependencies is quite different between the two maven and non-maven use cases.
