Seam is currently bound to GWT 1.3 - mostly cause we had to hack out some stuff so we could hook the request into the seam lifecycles. In 1.4 there is a separate class that will make it much less coupled (and so this problem shouldn't happen in future).

However, 1.4 is still release candidate (last I checked, which was about 1 minute ago) and it also had issue for me for a complex GWT app in some browsers (and some of the new features just didn't work that well for me) - so it still needs some work before I would use it (but once it is out, we can upgrade it to use the new RPC helper class).
