Ok, I can reproduce it now.  Here's the steps:

1. Build and deploy the remoting helloworld example.
2. Run the example by browsing to http://localhost:8080/seam-helloworld
3. Click the "Say hello" button, type something and press enter (this step may be optional)
4. Delete jboss-seam-helloworld.ear from the server/default/deploy directory in JBoss.

I can reproduce the exception consistently by following these steps.
