I'm unable to reproduce with Seam from CVS.  Actually, given that the exception is "No enum const class com.fb.core.model.cdm.CdmField.Se
lect search field...", and "search field..." isn't the noSelectionLabel or any string associated with s:selectItems, I suspect your problem is elsewhere.
