Frequently asked question with some forum posts is the positioning of the a4jsf filter in the web.xml filter stack. The implicit ordering in web.xml is broken by design. We need to move what we can out of it, and into Seam out-of-box. I imagine that deploying the a4jsf filter as a Seam AbstractFilter component, just like the other Seam filters, would work.
