Specifically, the new Hibernate EM release (3.3.2) is using a different JPA API dependency that is not compatible with the old one (different group and artifact IDs, no clue why Hibernate would need to declare it like that), and different javassist dependency (again, not compatible with the old one due to changed group ID).
