Jay Balunas commented on JBSEAM-2817:
-------------------------------------

I was able to build the translated docs, but found some things that I wanted to go over before releasing.

Starting with a clean checkout of the 2.0.0.GA tag. Originally I created a "zh" directory mirroring the "en" and pasted the new modules there. Then copied the shared images, css, etc... to the same relative position in the zh directory as it was in the en directory. I saw the errors below so I then tried a simple replace of the en content with the provided files - with the same results.

- During the building of the translated files:
     - [java] Error: no ID for constraint linkend: concurrency.
     - [java] XRef to nonexistent id: concurrency
     - This is not seen during non translated build.
     - Will try to verify exact difference, but the two should be the same base content.

- Images do not show correctly and seem to be pointing to a different relative location in the translated html files.
       - Working original en version - file:///jboss/projects/seam/2.0.0.GA/seam/doc/reference/build/en/shared/images/registration.png
       - Failing translated versions - file:///jboss/projects/seam/2.0.0.GA/seam/doc/reference/build/en/html/images/registration.png
       - This seemed to be the case with all images.
       - The translated PDF did have the images but that is because PDF bundles the files.

- Received many more PDF warning like "[java] [INFO] No spaces to justify text in line ...." when creating the PDF of the translated docs.
      - Typically this is because of long lines without spaces that cannot be wrapped.
      - There might not be anything to do about this.

- In the PDF all Chinese characters show as "#". In my experience with PDF and FOP this is because the PDF file does not embed the correct fonts. I believe that if your OS has the correct fonts then they will show. However it is possible to embed them with the PDF so that they are visible to all. I will attempt to verify if my machine is configured with the correct fonts. In my text editors, browsers, and other apps the fonts show correctly.

The spot checks of the translations look fine as far as I can tell.

Question about what to publish. The translated files in docs.jboss.com is easy and should be in the "zh" directory under reference. For the source forge bundle do we want all of the docs (api, reference, ui)(en,zh)? My suggestion would be yes - the bundle should be everything from "http://docs.jboss.com/seam/2.0.0.GA/" down.
