Upgrade to 3.5 beta is impossible at this time, so upgraded to 3.3 and HS 3.1 (without the new indexing API). Hoping that the minor upgrade in HS will resolve the index-out-of-sync issues. New issues are already visible in the core though from the Hibernate 3.2 - 3.3 upgrade.
