Jose, I'd hold off on pushing any fix through. It appears that this is going to get fixed downstream. See http://java.net/jira/browse/JAVASERVERFACES-2040. Its marked as a blocker so hopefully it will get fixed soon.
With regards to facets, is it possible to use facets with the original input container but not require them?
