Current verson 1.2.8 does not create the log directory automatically if this does not exists. This is fixed in bug https://issues.apache.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=9150

Only concern is JBoss Cache, JBoss Transaction use the 1.2.8 version, hopefully it would not cause any issues.
