Agree on that point. Teiid configuration is cluster wide, so having host/vm in the configuration name does not make sense, so there may be something we can do with having two names like "deployed-name"  vs "configuration-name" perhaps? I have this concept already with bindings in the "Embedded", to manage the bindings that are specific to a VDB vs common ones. May be we can expand on that?
