Pushing to 8, as the simplified development model and the fact that Eclipse already has a plugin for developing RARs makes custom development much easier than it was.  It could be customized slightly to use our base classes, but as is may be fine also.  As for the rest of potential tooling, you'd want to see something that gets people going with the executionfactory class and then makes the corresponding translator jar ready for deployment - this would include the jboss beans xml file.
