Ran through the Teiid Designer's Text file example script:

http://download.jboss.org/teiid/designer/7.2/examples/text-file-example.zip

Previewing the virtual table directly or through VDB does not return any rows.

Verified that I could create a VDB using 7.4 Designer, deploy it to a 7.1.1 Final Teiid server and Execute the VDB and query using DTP in Teiid Designer.

So the 7.4 VDB artifact appears to be ok.
