We are strict about converting strings to timestamps (see TEIID-745).  For example '0000-00-00 00:00:00' becomes 0002-11-30 00:00:00.0 due to the conversion from the Julian calendar back to Gregorian and that 0 is not a valid day/month.  Thus '0000-00-00 00:00:00' does not represent a consistent timestamp using conversion in Java.

Why are you getting values of this sort?  A simple workaround would be to use nullif, assuming that the value represents null.
