Steven Hawkins commented on TEIID-2524:
---------------------------------------
So this is due 0.10.0 specific:
https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HIVE-3140
which appears to be addressed by:
https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HIVE-4191
or possibly (which has yet to be committed)
https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HIVE-4545
The workaround is only generally safe as long as their column names cannot contain trailing/leading spaces. If they can, then we'd have to add an option for this trim behavior otherwise it looks like it is not an issue for 0.09.0 or 0.11.0.

> When hive translator starts with the newest Hive it runs "describe" command which returns Hive column names with white spaces.
> Maybe just use trim() in HiveMetadataProcessor.java?
> String name = rs.getString(1).trim();
