I could only find reference in V4 spec http://docs.oasis-open.org/odata/odata/v4.0/errata02/os/complete/part1-protocol/odata-v4.0-errata02-os-part1-protocol-complete.html#_Toc406398294

IMO, V2 spec mutilated when converted to webpages on odata.org, I could not find the original word documents.

In general if the URL resource does not exist, it should be 404
