I do not I agree with this. GetSchema call is not vdb export, it is call to get the current vdb schema. This is akin to say if .vdb is deployed get me one with .INDEX file. IMO these utilities are important to get users converted over to using DDL. Even with the xml format, get-schema always returned the schema not import information, this enhancement just expanded to whole vdb.

ConvertVDB utility already does what you are saying, it keeps the import statements in tact.
