[~shawkins] Below is the customer's reply to your question:

PostgreSQL ODBC native driver do not support DirectQuery, which a fundamental feature of PowerBI. ODBC extensions can optionally enable Direct Query mode, allowing Power BI to dynamically generate queries at runtime without pre-caching the user's data model.
