Hi,

Although it is probably not very realistic, a solution could be to
support both styles.
A common meta model could be made with 2 or more representations.
Similar to what is being done for maven.
That way new representations (e.g. json) could be added later without
the need to change the spec.
One can image an EE configuration standard allowing new
representations for older specs.
If the (new) EE platform is to be/become/stay successful is needs to
be as future proof as possible.
