I get what you're alluding to here from an earlier conversation we had, but let's leave this off the table for now so as not to confuse the issue more.

I believe what I stated is correct. The CF is created automatically after auto-mapping to an appropriate connector and migrating the connection info from the import over to the CF. You've even stated in the past there is no need to reuse CFs.

Why would we even assume this would be desired? What's the use case?
