*Reminder* - EJB 3.1 (Mar 9th, 2010 @ 6 PM)
by Jesper Pedersen
Hi all,
A friendly reminder about our meeting next week:
EJB 3.1
by Andrew Lee Rubinger, JBoss by Red Hat
Date: March 9th, 2010 @ 6 PM
Location:
Boston University
111 Cummington St
Boston, MA 02215
MCS 135 (Math and Computer Science Building)
1st floor
Abstract:
The term "EJB" evokes fear in application developers throughout the land.
Visions of verbose descriptors, Frankenstein XML, and an unmanageable runtime
environment made programmers run for the hills. Seven years ago.
Version 3.0 of the Enterprise JavaBeans Specification introduced the
programming model to the gym and makeup. She's slimmer, with tasteful
annotations sprinked about.
In this session we'll start from scratch:
* What makes us most productive?
* What tasks should we be programming; more importantly, what shouldn't we
do?
* What the heck is a component model, and why should I care?
* How is this stuff useable in the real world?
In turn we'll discuss the features of EJB, with particular focus on stuff new
to EJB 3.1 and JavaEE6. At the end we'll introduce some new frameworks and
libraries which will ultimately make testing enterprise components as trivial
as calling "add" on a CS101 Calculator.java.
